About the Institute
Our Mission & Philosophy
Redefining Women’s Health Through Care, Education, and Advocacy
At The Women & Girls Pelvic Health Institute, we’re changing how women’s health is delivered by combining specialized 1:1 pelvic therapy in South Tampa with hands-on period education and community outreach across the greater Tampa Bay region. Founded by Pelvic Floor Occupational Therapist Dr. Saige Evans, OTD, OTR/L, our institute operates through three core pillars:
Advanced Pelvic Therapy: Private, evidence-based 1:1 clinical care designed to resolve complex pelvic floor concerns, treat chronic pain, and restore autonomy over your body in our South Tampa practice.
Community Education: Educational experiences that bring pelvic science into daily life through private "Growing Up Confident" Period Parties for moms and tweens, community wellness workshops, and specialized trainings for fitness instructors and studios.
Social Stewardship: Bridging the health equity gap by providing fully pro-bono menstrual education, body literacy, and pelvic health resources directly to underserved local youth organizations and community advocacy centers across Tampa Bay.
Why We Built the Institute
Shifting from "Fixing Pain Later" to Teaching Body Literacy Early
Traditional healthcare treats pelvic health like an afterthought: something you’re only supposed to worry about after having a baby, late in life, or after enduring years of unexplained pain.
We opened this practice because women and girls deserve better than waiting for a crisis to get care. We built this space to step in long before silent suffering becomes the norm:
For the Next Generation: Giving young girls the knowledge and support they need so that "firsts," like using a tampon or getting a period, happen with confidence instead of anxiety or shame.
For Athletes: Ending performance-limiting period pain and athletic leakage that athletes are so often told to "just deal with."
For Anyone in Chronic Pain: Delivering real, lasting answers if you have been passed between providers or told "everything looks normal" while still living with complex pelvic symptoms.
Body literacy shouldn't be something you only discover after something feels broken. We build specialized pelvic health care directly into your daily life, whether that's in our clinic, at your gym, or through community workshops.
Meet Dr. Saige Evans, OTD, OTR/L
Founder & Pelvic Floor Occupational Therapist
When you’ve lived through the confusion of pelvic health issues first as a young girl, and later as a woman, wife, and mother, you look at client care differently. Experiencing that firsthand is what ultimately shaped my clinical path. After earning my Bachelor's degree from Florida State University and my Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Nova Southeastern University, my own journey through these challenges led me to specialize initially in pediatrics, sensory integration, and ultimately dedicate my practice to pelvic floor therapy for people of all ages.
Founding The Women & Girls Pelvic Health Institute allowed me to bring all three of my passions together under one roof, caring for clients across South Tampa, St. Petersburg, and North Tampa since 2020. Alongside private practice, I serve as university adjunct faculty and Interim Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, guiding future occupational therapy students and mentoring novice pelvic practitioners.
I created this practice to build the exact space I needed—from navigating my first period as a tween, to later chapters like intimacy, relationships, birthing with pelvic pain, and beyond. Here, you can ask any question without feeling awkward, make informed choices about your own body, and get the unhurried, attentive care you deserve. To give my clients the highest standard of care, I’ve completed extensive advanced post-graduate training in complex pelvic pain, prolapse, incontinence, and non-surgical supports like pessary fitting. As an active member of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH), I remain dedicated to integrating the latest evidence-based approaches into every client's care.
Whether I'm helping a tween who feels stuck because she can't get a tampon in or out, guiding an adult who feels like she's hitting a wall during sex, or helping someone finally resolve chronic pelvic and abdominal pain after being told "everything looks normal," my goal is to help women and girls feel comfortable, capable, and confident in their own bodies.
A Sensory Approach to Pelvic Floor Therapy
Most pelvic health approaches focus solely on isolated muscles. With her specialized background through the USC Chan Sensory Integration Certificate Program and years of experience working with clients of all ages, Dr. Saige looks at the whole picture. Her comprehensive evaluations examine how the nervous system, stress levels, environment, and body history work together to shape current concerns:
-
Clearing up unexplained pelvic pain, sudden bladder or bowel issues, and helping young girls learn to use tampons, cups, or discs without anxiety or pain.
-
Relieving pelvic floor tightness, deep aching, or tailbone pain tied to long study hours, intense workouts, or first intimate experiences.
-
Finding real solutions for chronic muscle tension, painful intercourse (dyspareunia), and navigating complex conditions like endometriosis, pudendal neuralgia, vaginismus, vulvodynia, vestibulodynia, or lichen sclerosus.
-
Resolving athletic leakage (stress incontinence), core bracing pain, and pelvic discomfort in high-impact sports like gymnastics, cheer, dance, running, and lifting.
-
Guiding every stage, whether trying to conceive with painful sex, navigating anxiety around pregnancy load on an already sensitive pelvic floor, or recovering after a C-section or vaginal birth with a history of pelvic health concerns.
Our Space: A Clinical Setting with Character
Resolving complex pelvic dysfunction requires an environment where your nervous system feels completely secure. We believe clinical care doesn't have to feel cold or sterile. Located in South Tampa, our treatment space is styled with a thoughtful blend of warmth, color, and personality to break the ice, reduce anxiety, and help you feel comfortable letting your guard down.
Your comfort is directly tied to your body’s ability to regulate, adapt, and heal. Within our practice, privacy and optimal care are our highest priorities:
Complete Privacy: A fully closed, private treatment room ensuring privacy with zero overlapping appointments.
An Approachable Environment: Pairing professional clinical care with an inviting aesthetic makes it easier to discuss sensitive concerns. Our space is designed with small, comforting touches like cozy socks, soft linens, and a heated treatment table, skipping the cold stirrups and paper gowns altogether.
Trauma-Informed Boundaries: We move entirely at your pace, ensuring you feel respected and in control every step of the way.
Privacy & Clinical Integrity
Beyond the Clinic & Across the Community
The Institute is on a mission to bring pelvic health out of isolation and embed it directly into the spaces where life happens across South Tampa, St. Petersburg, and the greater Tampa Bay region.
For Athletes & Studios: We partner with fitness instructors to integrate pelvic floor cues into studio classes, and we work with local sports programs to navigate menstruation and leakage in high-level athletics.
For Families & Youth Pelvic Health: We host interactive tween and parent period and puberty talks, as well as private community events. Our goal is to give girls a grounded, shame-free foundation early on while equipping families with the tools and conversation starters to navigate growing up with confidence.
For Fellow Clinicians & Practitioners: We elevate standard pelvic care through advanced clinical education, OT fieldwork supervision for future occupational therapists, and dedicated 1:1 clinical mentorship for emerging pelvic floor practitioners.
Whether you are looking to compete at your highest level, heal from chronic pain in our South Tampa pelvic health clinic, or bring vital education to your school or studio, we are here to support you.
Our Vision: Elevating Pelvic Health Equity
True clinical leadership extends far past the walls of our private treatment rooms. We believe every young person and community member deserves access to accurate body literacy, regardless of their background.
To ensure that vital pelvic health education reaches underserved youth and community groups across Tampa Bay, we actively dedicate a portion of our practice resources toward community outreach, educational equity, and local give-back initiatives.
When you seek care at or partner with the Institute, you are directly supporting an ecosystem dedicated to lasting, systemic change in women's health and community pelvic education.
